Club History

The history and mythology of the University of Bristol Hockey Club is long and distinguished. Unfortunately, we haven't written it down anywhere before.

  • 2013
    • UBLHC 3rd XI make it to BUCS Trophy Final held at Dingle only to lose 1-0 to Exeter Ladies 2s, after they kicked the ball in the goal.
    • UBMHC Alumni James Bailey captains England 1st XI  at World Cup Qualifiers
  • 2002
    •  Bristol "Flagship" 2nd XI reach the BUSA semi-finals away to Durham, unfortunately losing 1-0.Submitted by Gareth "Happy" Holliday (UBMHC 2001-2005)
  • 1994 
    • Bristol 1st and 2nd XI won their UAU championships beating arch rivals Exeter in the finals at Cannock Hockey Club. The 1st XI technically shared the title as their game ended 2-2, the 2nd XI won 3-1. Submitted by Tim Knight (UBMHC 1992-1995) | Source: Epigram 1994

Ancient Lore and Tales:

  • Bristol walk on water.
  • 1994 UBMHC 4th XI attempted to tour London on weekend away. Unfortunately they broke down on the M4/M32 interchange, and were all paralytic by the time the AA arrived.
