UBMHC 2nd XI in BUCS Final

22 March 2011 at 02:25

Our beloved club has something of a special occasion coming up next week, the current 2nd XI have made it through to the final of the BUCS (BUSA) West Cup taking place in Bath next Wednesday - 23rd March. Our opponents, from the wrong side of the boarder, will be Cardiff Medics which will no doubt add even more needle to what will be a very fiery encounter.

The 2's have had a great season this year. Last weekend they guaranteed finishing top of their Saturday league with two games still to play. This promotion follows promotion on a Saturday last season too, meaning they will be playing in Premier Division 2 (the league below the 1's) next season. Their cup run up to this point
has been spectacular, beating Plymouth University 2nd XI 8-0 in the first round, Winchester Poly 14-0 in the second round, Exeter 4th XI 2-1, away, in the Quarter-Finals and Bournemouth 1st XI 3-2 in the Semi-Finals last week.

The team, led by Captain Brazell, is a fairly young one featuring 6 Freshers, 5 Second years, 3 third years and 2 veteran elders. Nevertheless, they have bonded well throughout the season and are looking to cap off an excellent season in a blaze of purple glory!

Naturally, nearly all of the current club will be making the trip over to Bath to support the team (Return supporters coaches are being put on by the AU from Bristol.) However, we would also love for as many of you, the Alumni, to get involved as possible. We are planning on making sure there will be enough transport
laid on to give everybody who wants to go the opportunity to do so. The push back time is currently scheduled for 1pm. We are still in the process of sorting travel arrangements with the AU, so more details will follow on that front, but I would imagine we will be looking at something like an 11.30am departure from Bristol for
supporters.

The match, and fingers crossed victory, will of course be followed in true UBMHC style with a Wednesday night social to do the occasion justice...

SnakieB will flow, Purple Highways will be traversed, Matchboxes will be tossed, Freshers will get it wrong, Soixante Neuf will stink, The Heed will come out to play, Freshers will get it wrong again and women certainly won't be spoken to before 9! A Pizzazz and a Sicilian later, we'll be stumbling down the sacred steps and into The Lounge...

So please join us on this great occasion, all those interested please get in touch with Happy Holiday ASAP so we can sort out numbers for transport over to Bath.

After all... We have a certain reputation...

Regards,

Nick Gregory

Club Captain 2010-11
